My children and grandchildren have always told me I was bit “nuts” . Take my word for it, I am a one of a kind~~ a tad off the normal range. Why? I speak my piece, love to laugh, make up my own songs, talk to the birds outdoors and sometimes just say the weirdest things without thinking (the latter I attribute to old age–but the kids disagree).
In September 2000, I had thyroid cancer surgery. I had the entire right lobe of my thyroid removed because a tumor was putting pressure on my trachea. The surgery took longer than expected. My surgeon informed me later “that my thyroid was not in the normal place, it was a bit off to side, so that required some very careful maneuvering to avoid any complications with my carotid artery.” I found out about a year and 1/2 later I had severe sleep apnea. My initial visit with the Ear/Nose/Throat doctor was interesting, as he placed this spaghetti like scope through my nose while my head was tilted back. He then instructed me “to look at the ceiling” and while he wiggled it down my throat, “try not to gag.” (LOL) Anyway, he told me to make the several sounds. After he pulled out the microscope he explained to me that my right vocal was paralyzed and when I slept, the left vocal cord relaxed and my throat would close. Obviously, during the thyroid surgery, a nerve was severed. Then he informed me I shouldn’t be able to speak either. Ha Ha!! Fooled them! Here’s the clincher~~I can talk!! And all too well some say, I could talk the ear off a anyone. The point to all this is.
God is “able to do exceedingly abundantly above anything we can ask or think”. The Creator and Sustainer of all the universe has proven that He still wants me to have the ability to speak!
Yes I am a nut, but as long as my Heavenly Father keeps me here on earth…I want to be a “salty” one that SPEAKS His Word in the LIGHT of His love. I can’t sing anymore though, but please enjoy this song…have a Son-filled day!
Matthew 5:13-16
“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lamp stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
