I Asked For It!

I asked God for strength

And He gave me difficulties to make me strong.

I asked God for wisdom

And He gave me problems to solve

I asked God for prosperity

And He gave me the ability to work

I asked for courage

And He gave me danger to overcome

I asked God for love

And He gave me people who were hurting

I asked God for favors

And He gave me opportunities

I received “nothing” I asked BUT… I received “everything I needed!

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD.  For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Isaiah 55:8-9

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.  For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;”

James 1:5-7 (ESV)

There is joy, hope and peace in knowing the Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Everyday is a new day to share the the glorious Gospel message of grace and forgiveness; the blessings of hope; the Father God's eternal promises; and the importance of living daily in the will of God according to the Scriptures, especially now with the world in chaos and uncertainty. My life before I repented of all my sin, was washed clean by the blood of the Lamb of God-- Jesus Christ and was born again; was one of utter selfishness in every aspects of my life. I lived for ME and only me! Now I live for my Lord and soon coming King, rejoicing daily. I earnestly desire to share the message of the Gospel, encourage sisters/brothers in Christ by fervent prayer and studying the Holy Scriptures more each day. 1. I believe we all get tossed about…especially in this society we live in. But lest we never forget…He created the sea, the wind to make the waves, and man’s brain to build a boat! It’s ALL in Him and for Him!

  1. I love this! It’s so funny how when we ask for strength, wisdom, courage, integrity and etc from God, so He gives it to us through challenges we must overcome. He gives us learning obstacles It always makes me chuckle!

    1. I know I have to giggle sometimes when God answer a prayer, not the way I expected, but He did answer it–in His own way in His timing! Isn’t He amazing?

  2. Hi alwayzhis, Loved the Scripture on seeking God’s wisdom will leave a link for you, without it we can not understand the things of God as 1Corinthans 2:9-16 tells us, thank you for highliting it.

I do not Trust in mans fleshy understanding as I’m sure you don’t but we can be in error as this statement is …… And He gave me difficulties to make me strong.

God does not cause us to suffer or does He afflict us with hardship, is this what I think yes 100% but it is also confirmed in Scripture ( see below ) but He does bring good from evil, we need to remember the Scriptuers tell us to say God does evil to bring good out of it is slander.

Lamentations 3: 33 For He doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.

Isaiah 43:1-3 – Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour.”

Jeremiah 29 :11-12 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

    1. Hello Anne! I do not, in any way, trust in the wisdom of men, as I KNOW it is folly (foolishness). However, what is meant by the first line in this short piece, is not that God gives out evil to make us strong, but He does allow for us to encounter difficulties. As a mother of seven, I remember when my children were learning to walk, it was difficult. But they learned after falling on the bottom several times, how to make their little legs strong.

Several months ago, I did a complete study on the Book of Job~~I completely agree that our Loving Father and Lord Jesus Christ do not “give us evil”. However, Jesus did tell us to “take up our cross and follow Him” (Luke 14:27) and quite often, that is very difficult.
Thanks for your input. Many blessings in Christ Jesus,
      ~streim~

  3. Hi again alwayzhis, I agree in this life we will have trouble Jesus said so but it is not by His hand nor does He willingly allow it.

Lamentations 3: 33 For He doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.

But He does strengthen us to go through it and for this we rejoice and give thanks. I also have done many studies over 30 years relating to the Scriptures but it was not until I asked for and received God’s wisdom that I understood the Truth, it is not clear to those who trust in their own understanding or others and I’m not saying you do, I don’t know your heart.

But I did not have God’s wisdom and so did not know my Abba Father as I know Him today, I knew of Him but not His heart. Just as you would not plan evil for your children or allow it nor does God, He tolerates it not wanting anyone to perish. When your children fell down it did not give you pleasure nor does it give God pleasure to see us suffering but it is part of being in a fallen world and the limitations of the earthly body.

God does not cause sickness or disabilities, they also came with the fall He is not trying to teach us something through them, babies can’t learn but they suffer, there is pain that is good because it is a warning and so is needed, the same when we continue to sin by wanting our own way instead of obeying God’s guidelines, it is needed for Him to discipline us by letting us have what we want and so we suffer the consequences of our sin and hopefully sooner then later we like the Prodigal son come to our senses and so call out to God with all our heart and submit to Him out of Love not fear.

Job did not have the Holy Spirit indwelling him, Pentecost had not come but He was working in Job’s life and he kept Job strong till the end of his testing but Job did not know God as we do Corinthians 2:9-16 we see this later when he questioned God who reassured him that He was the Creator.

We all are tried by Satan if we are God’s children, it is his right to claim those who are his but we do not have to fear in Christ Jesus, no temptation will be greater then we can bear. It is not that God willingly allows it He does not take pleasure in evil but it is the way things are and will remain until Christ returns and all evil will then end.

Please read again the Scripture I gave you but realize that when you delete peoples comments without confirmation of Scripture and reject their Scripture it shows an unwillingness to learn and this is pride.

Christian Love and many blessings Anne.

    1. I did not delete your comment Anne. I asked a dear friend (who is a theology student) if there was anything in that poem/prayer that was defying Scripture truth and his response was no. It was simply an expression of the joy/peace we receive when we KNOW that our Heavenly Father and Lord Jesus answers our prayers. Maybe not exactly the way we wanted them answered. I agree that God does not take pleasure in watching His children struggle; however, very often He ALLOWS us to walk through valleys of difficulty in order for us to draw closer to Him, to humble us, to refine as gold, and to strengthen us. The Apostle Paul, James, Peter, John, Silas, Barnabas, etc all were allowed by God to be imprisoned, stoned, cursed, and even murdered (accept John). Why? Only to make the Grace of God known to them and those they taught. I am truly sorry that your belief in God’s Allowable Will and His Perfect Will differ from mine.
I don’t believe that this is just the “way it is” until Jesus returns. I believe our Creator God is STILL IN CHARGE OF ALL THINGS OF THIS WORLD (AND UNIVERSE) until He chooses to send our the Lord Jesus Christ in the rapture. There is much debate over this subject as well, but I would rather debate something that ONLY the LORD God knows.
May you be blessed in the love of the Father and Lord Jesus.

      1. I’m sorry Stephanie, It must have been the hacker again because I did leave the above message before, it has to be someone connected to WordPress to be able to moderate it or delete it from your blog but when I asked them before they denied it and said they didn’t have that control and that it was the Blog owners who do it, which makes you out to be liars. I will take a screenshot this time.

I will not argue with you Stephanie in response to man’s own understanding of the Scriptures, I depend on God’s wisdom but I will ask why you went to someone else instead of Jesus our only Teacher for confirmation. 1Corinthians 2: 2-3 & 9-16

John 15:14-15 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.(KJV)

Matthew 10:26-28 Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops (KJV)

        Psalm 32:8
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you shall go.
I will guide you with Mine eye.

      2. I completely agree that our Lord Jesus Christ is our Teacher and Our Friend~~and He is so much more. He is all I need.
I honestly believe when you read that poem you misconstrued it’s meaning.

We all struggle with trials in our lives…but I stand on my belief that the LORD God is Sovereign over all things.

Here is my personal statement of faith:
I believe that the Bible is God’s is verbally inspired, authoritative, and without error in the original manuscripts.(2Tim 3:15)
I believe there is one everlasting, eternal God, existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
I believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, death on the cross to provide for our redemption, His bodily resurrection from the dead and His ascension into heaven, now seated at the right hand of the Father making intercession for us.
I believe Jesus Christ will return to earth in all His power and glory.
I believe in the person and deity of the Holy Spirit, that He performs the miracle of the new birth in an unbeliever and indwells believers, enabling them to live a godly life.
I believe that man was created in the image of God, but because of sin in the Garden of Eden by Adam and Eve, we are alienated from God.
That alienation can be removed only by accepting through faith God’s gift of salvation which was made possible by Christ’s death.
I believe that salvation is not attainable by works, but only through repentance and by personally accepting the Lord Jesus Christ’s redemption work on the cross for ourselves.

This is what I believe. As long as I live in this body of flesh, I will continue to seek to grow more like my Lord Jesus and less of myself, with the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit, God’s HOLY Word and prayer. I am a work in progress–I have not arrived.

  4. Did you delete this comment or was it the hacker again Stephanie, No Stephanie in answer to your accusation above I did not misconstrue the poems meaning, you confirmed that you agreed that God gives us difficulties to make us strong…. I repeat as the Scripture confirms, Lamentations 3: 33 For He doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.

God does not plan evil for us or willingly allow it, He is Love, as for the rest of your statements I agree, but we do live in a fallen world that Satan controls and we do not continue to sin when we are Born again of God’s seed 1John3:9.

1 John 5:18-20 We know that no one who is Born of God sins; but He who was Born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him. We know that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
