Posted in Everyday News, Living in Today's World, Seeking Truth?

I won’t go into much detail here, but for days (literally) I have been struggling with all the different Bible translations out there.  I’ve used the KJV for almost 40 years and never have I ever taken issue with the language.  There are many groups saying it’s “evil” ;several years ago one Lutheran denomination burned all of theirs and now uses the NIV.  A dear sister in Christ told me to stop using the KJV and use the ESV because King James was a horribly, sinful king.  I could go on…however I won’t!

I just want to bring a news story from this morning to your attention if you haven’t read it.  You tell me what you think?

There is joy, hope and peace in knowing the Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Everyday is a new day to share the the glorious Gospel message of grace and forgiveness; the blessings of hope; the Father God's eternal promises; and the importance of living daily in the will of God according to the Scriptures, especially now with the world in chaos and uncertainty. My life before I repented of all my sin, was washed clean by the blood of the Lamb of God-- Jesus Christ and was born again; was one of utter selfishness in every aspects of my life. I lived for ME and only me! Now I live for my Lord and soon coming King, rejoicing daily. I earnestly desire to share the message of the Gospel, encourage sisters/brothers in Christ by fervent prayer and studying the Holy Scriptures more each day. 1. I think the title to your post says it all. They want to take Jesus Christ our of the wording of the Bible because his last name isn’t Christ? And they came to this conclusion because Christ means “anointed” or “messiah”? Ummm correct me if I am wrong, but wasn’t Jesus the anointed one? Wasn’t he the Messiah? And if they are going to take the word Angel out and replace it with Messenger, What about all the instances that Angels weren’t messengers. What are they going to do with that word.

It infuriates me when they want to change the words in the Bible. Makes it look like they want to change it because it doesn’t suit their wanted behavior. Seems as if they want to have a relationship with Jesus Christ, they need to get themselves out of the way and live a life pleasing to God.

I have used the KJV and NKJV my whole life. I do have a NIV but only because I like the study notes in it. I RARELY study scripture out of it. I mainly use my NKJV for reading and studying. I have read the message, and several other versions of the bible and they seem to be more of a novel than scripture.

    Just my humble opinion

  2. Satan will use anything to distract us from knowing Jesus Christ, the written Word (John 1:1-3, 14) and the Living Word. He is LORD over the universe/mankind (Colossians 1:16-21). Debating over King James, NIV, NASB, etc. only distracts our focus (which should be constantly in His presence) from Christ Jesus…note the transposition of the two words.

“But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men MOVED by the Holy Spirit SPOKE from God.” 2 Peter 1:20-21 (Prophecy meaning the Word of God)

“…that the Most High (El Elyon) is the ruler over the realm of mankind…” Daniel 4:17.

Instead of bickering over which Bible interpretation to use, we should get on our knees and faces and ask God for His wisdom and understanding, for both ones self and for those who think differently. God worked through Pharaoh, not a righteous man by any means, and God can work through even the evil man or woman to accomplish His purposes.

  3. corinthrose, you misunderstood me. 🙂 I am not debating which version to use. I simply stated what version I use and why. I read the article and was just giving an opinion about what I thought about it. Isn’t that what she asked us to do? She asked what we thought. I totally agree with you that we need to be on our knees EVERYDAY seeking God’s face and wisdom for ourselves. I do think that God can use evil situations to His good, and people who are of evil. But God allows them to choose to be evil or good. He doesn’t “make” them be evil. God turns evil to His good everyday.

I was simply giving my thoughts to the article and what I thought about what was written.

Thanks Hun for giving information out. We all need to be aware of the distraction of the world and it’s interpretation of “they” want God to be for them.

  4. wow…..people don’t seem to understand the implications of changing the word….Do they not fear the warning that states in the Book of Revelation 22:18-19???????

    A Warning

18 For[a] I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add[b] to him the plagues that are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away[c] his part from the Book[d] of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

This isn’t some mere bible interpretation mishap…it’s a subtle form of re-interpretation that takes away from the truth and therefore becomes established as a lie. The Translation is subtle but very misleading. I hear you on this one alwayzhis.

    Thanks for sharing.

    1. Thank you for your comment~! We are to beware, for the enemy of our souls is very subtle and deceitful. This just took me by surprise. And I agree…Matt. 1:21 says “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.” and Luke 1:31 And, behold , thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. (both from the KJV). This is name The Almighty God, our Heavenly Father gave to His Son.

  5. I did read the article, and I do know why you posted it…agree totally with you. So sorry if you thought I was referring to you with the bickering, because I wasn’t. My apologies.

    1. No need to apologize sister. I completely agree that each of us is responsible to go into the Lord’s presence daily (if not multiple times daily) humbly on our knees; repenting of any current sin, asking for His guidance, seeking His perfect will for ourselves and praying for others, and especially the Body of Christ–His Church as we live in such tumultuous times. My checking the different translations was because while following along with a speaker on the radio, I was unsure what version he was using…then my research began. I am not to “jump” but his hit me out of the blue, especially because I never thought anything about the version issue until 2 days ago.
Sending you much love in the name of Jesus—

  6. I have used the KJV since I became a Christian 53 years ago. I own several other versions and reference them at times for study purposes, but stick with with KJV for general use.

I do believe it is the most accurate or at least one of the most accurate and I love the form of English there – very easy to memorise. I could wish – especially when ministering to children – there was a “New KJV” which only changed the should’st, hath, ye, – all the ‘eths’ and ‘ests’ etc – to modern English, without changing anything else.

I have been alarmed at some versions which I could refer to as perversions, and disappointed at others. For instance, there is a vast difference between “yield” in KJV and “present” in NIV. To yield is to give up all rights, where to present carries no such idea.

    1. I agree with every point you make! There are times when I am studying I will compare versions (online of course) and it is unbelievable. What the KJV says is so much stronger in it’s language—as it well should be.
To me this is just another sign of the times…deception everywhere…
Keep looking up as I do everyday!

Many blessings an thank you for your input!
