” for ‘Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!’ ” Romans 10:13-15 (NLT)
There is no hearing of Christ and salvation by Him without the preaching of the Gospel! The usual and ordinary way of hearing from God, and of Christ, is by the ministry of the Word. This shows not only the necessity and usefulness of the Gospel ministry, but also points out the subject matter which is Christ, and Him crucified. They that preach (which is every blood bought, forgiven follower of Jesus Christ) ought to preach concerning the person of Christ, His grace, righteousness, blood, and satisfaction of the God’s requirement for “perfect sacrifice” to redeem man unto Himself. It happens so often, that after talking with someone about the Lord, we have to stop and think “now where on earth did THAT come from?” And we know the answer. It didn’t come from anywhere ‘on earth’. It came from the direct leading of Holy Spirit. We speak ‘the right words at the right time’ when HE directs and we allow HIM to speak through us.
What an amazing privilege to be the mouthpiece for the living God!
What an amazing God!
