2012’s Most Priceless Moment

2012’s Most Priceless Moment

I remember precisely the who, what, where and how of this moment— we’ll exclude the when since it is of no significance.  My again grey matter has a propensity for not remembering months, weeks, days, hours…

The Who:   Myself aka Grandma and my 7-year-old granddaughter aka “Bug”

The Where:  We (me and Bug) had just finished a family meal at my youngest daughter’s home.  Bug and I were just talking about “things”.   She looked at my silver cross necklace I wear all the time and asked a simple question.

cross necklace

The What:   Question #1  ” Grandma why do wear that cross all the time? ”   she asked with her little head tilted to one side and a deeply curious look in her innocent eyes.   “Because I love Jesus honey” I responded immediately with a smile.

The What #2:  Like most young children she wanted more.  You know that question  most parents dislike– the big why question!  “Why do you love Jesus Grandma?”  Without thinking (literally!) I responded “Because He first loved me”   After I said that, I patiently waited for her to ask another question, but she didn’t!   Her eyes lit up like fireworks exploding she smiled and said ” OK “.  That was that!

The How:  How amazing is the simple truth of God’s Word to little children.  She completely understood!

*******************************

Dwight L. Moody said ” It is a masterpiece of the devil to make us believe that children cannot understand religion. Would Christ have made a child the standard of faith if He had known that it was not capable of understanding His words? “

Matthew 18: 1-4

At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”  Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them,  and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.  Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”

” And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world.  Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.  And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.  Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.  There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.  We love Him  because He first loved us.” 1 John 4: 14-19

May each of us Father, as we begin a new year in our lives, never forget that we are “your little children” made  to humbly love, honor and glorify You for all the world to see! ♥ Streim

There is great peace and joy in knowing the Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior. I am blessed to serve our Heavenly Father through Him. Everyday is a new day to share the the glorious Gospel message of grace and forgiveness; the blessings of hope; the Father God's eternal promises; and the importance of living daily in the will of God according to the Scriptures, especially now with the world in chaos and uncertainty. My life before I asked God to forgive me of all my sin through the blood of Jesus Christ and I repented (turned away from it); was one of utter selfishness in all aspects of my life. I partied, I lived for ME and only me! Now, I live for Him, with great joy daily. I want to share the Gospel, encourage other sisters/brothers in Christ through prayer and do as He leads by the faith He's given through His abundant grace! 1. Now THAT was a real blessing for you!
I have worked in children’s and youth ministry for most of my Christian life and have been privileged to see many young children come to understand the truth of the Gospel or take to heart a specific Scripture and apply it and see it have effect.

I believe children’s ministry is a VERY important part of the local Church. It is more important than ever before to instill a Biblical worldview in our children, so that they know WHY they believe WHAT they believe, and their first thought will be to seek what God says on the matter before them. It grieves me so much to be told by pastors, when contacting them about programs for children “Oh we’re not interested in children. We are concerned with the parents”

    1. I believe just as you Angela. Jesus used the children to answer that question from the disciples in Matthew 18 about “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”
How sad for many churches ignore the responsibility of the commandment of our Lord Jesus “Allow the little children to come unto me… for such is the kingdom of heaven.”
