Obedience

I remember singing an old hymn/children’s song (?)  “Trust and obey, for there’s no other way, to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey”.  That’s all I remember.  I think maybe because that’s one of the most important principles in the Christian’s life.  In this passage from Acts 4, Peter gave us the REASON why!

Acts 4:29-42  But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men. The God of our fathers raised Jesus, whom you killed by hanging him on a tree.  God exalted him at his right hand as Leader and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.  And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.”  When they heard this, they were enraged and wanted to kill them.  But a Pharisee in the council named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law held in honor by all the people, stood up and gave orders to put the men outside for a little while.  And he said to them, “Men of Israel, take care what you are about to do with these men.  For before these days Theudas rose up, claiming to be somebody, and a number of men, about four hundred, joined him. He was killed, and all who followed him were dispersed and came to nothing.  After him Judas the Galilean rose up in the days of the census and drew away some of the people after him. He too perished, and all who followed him were scattered. So in the present case I tell you, keep away from these men and let them alone, for if this plan or this undertaking is of man, it will fail;  but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You might even be found opposing God!” So they took his advice,  and when they had called in the apostles, they beat them and charged them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.  Then they left the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the name.  And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.

Psalm 35:9 “And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD.  It shall rejoice in His salvation.”  My prayer is that every adopted blood bought child of the LORD God will stand strong in Him.  We will KNOW true joy in our Savior and Lord through obedience to the Word… and NOT through our feelings!  ♥ Streim

There is great peace and joy in knowing the Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior. I am blessed to serve our Heavenly Father through Him. Everyday is a new day to share the the glorious Gospel message of grace and forgiveness; the blessings of hope; the Father God's eternal promises; and the importance of living daily in the will of God according to the Scriptures, especially now with the world in chaos and uncertainty. My life before I asked God to forgive me of all my sin through the blood of Jesus Christ and I repented (turned away from it); was one of utter selfishness in all aspects of my life. I partied, I lived for ME and only me! Now, I live for Him, with great joy daily. I want to share the Gospel, encourage other sisters/brothers in Christ through prayer and do as He leads by the faith He's given through His abundant grace! 1. I tend to type gibberish on the laptop – many double or triple letters and several missed letters – and have to go through deleting some and adding some. If I didn’t have to use this, I’d type the wordss for Trust and Obey for you, but I’m afraid it would be beyond me tonight, so I’ll just aagree there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus.
