It’s God’s Way or No Way

Jesus made a very strong statement to His disciples when He said Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat :Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leads unto life, and few there be that find it. Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits . Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs ofthistles”  Matthew 7:13-16

If you read the Scriptures and miss the story of salvation, you have missed its message and meaning.  Going through the Bible we can trace the person of our Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ.

In Genesis He is the seed of the woman.

In Exodus He is the Passover Lamb.

In Leviticus He is the Atoning Sacrifice.

In Numbers He is Smitten Rock.

In Deuteronomy He is the Greatest Prophet.

In Joshua He is the Captain of the Lord of Hosts.

In Judges He is the Deliverer.

In Kings He is the Promised King.

In Nehemiah He is the Restorer of the Nation.

In Esther He is the Advocate.

In Job He is the Redeemer.

In Psalms He is the Good Shepherd.

In Proverbs He is how we are Pattern our life.

In Ecclesiastes He is our Goal.

In the Song of Solomon He is the One who satisfies.

In the Books of all the Prophets(the lesser and greater)  He is the coming Prince of Peace and the Messiah.

In the Gospels He is the Savior and Messiah written of in the Old Testament.

In Acts He is our Risen  and Ascended Lord.

In the Epistles He is our Mediator sitting at the Father’s right hand.

In Revelation He is The Returning King and the Bridegroom of the Church.

Salvation of the soul is only possible because of the atonement made by Jesus Christ on the cross for our sins and His resurrection from the dead.  But it’s not enough to believe that Jesus Christ did this, it MUST be personally received as “the gift of God” (John 3:16).  When that is done, Jesus Christ is then our Savior and mediator between Almighty God and us.  But is that all there is…NO!  We must then repent and become a new creation who serves God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.  As someone once told me “salvation is not like Burger King…you can’t have it your way”.  It must be God’s way or no way.  Jesus must be BOTH our Savior and our Lord.

Know WHO you believe in, WHAT you believe and WHY you believe it.  We are told “…to always be ready to give an answer for the hope that lies within us” ( 1 Peter 3:15)  As His faithful, forgiven ones, we are given the Great Commission to “sow the seeds of truth”.  Sharing the Gospel message as the Lord leads.  Just a few little reminders and verses to help you if you need them.

1) His virgin birth 2) His sinless life  3) His death of atonement  4) His victory over death through His resurrection  5)  His work seated at the Father’s right hand mediating for us  6) His return again, which will be visible to everyone.

September 12, 2013: I find it astounding that in a little over a year, the Christian church has branched into multiple “gospels” within these already numerous denominations and their beliefs.  Teachings that add to or take away from the Word.  Please, please… if you have asked Christ to be your personal Savior– it is your responsibility to KNOW you believe and understand what you’re being taught and whether it lines up with the Word or the World.  When you asked Jesus Christ to be your Savior, repented and turn from your sinful life– you became an “adopted child” of the LORD God Almighty. Remember our Savior’s words from Matthew 7!  Study the Word for yourself!  It is imperative you KNOW the true doctrine from the false worldly doctrine!

I covet your prayers as I continue to work on my current series.  May you be blessed this day~~ everyday new day is another day to share the message that saves lives… ♥ Streim

Pastor Begger story

Pastor Jeremiah Steepek transformed himself into a homeless person and went to the 10,000 member church that he was to be introduced as the head pastor of that morning. He walked around outside the church for 30 minutes as the people began arriving for the morning worship service.  While the church folk began arriving for the service, only 3 people out of the 7-10,000 people said hello to him. He asked people for change to buy food – NO ONE in the church gave him anything, not even pocket change. As he entered the sanctuary he went to sit in the front of the church. Immediately the ushers asked him to sit in the back row. He greeted people as they walked by only to receive glaring stares and dirty looks; as though they were better than him.

As he sat in the back of the church; he listened to the church announcements, several songs from the choir and stood to participate in worship.  Then the elders went up to introduce the new pastor of the church to the congregation. “We would like to introduce to you Pastor Jeremiah Steepek.” The congregation looked around clapping with joy and anticipation. The homeless man sitting in the back stood up and started walking down the aisle. The clapping stopped with ALL eyes on him. When he got to the altar, he took the microphone from the elders and paused for a moment then he spoke these words of Jesus written in Matthew 25:34-40

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’  ‘The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ “

After he recited these words of Jesus, he looked towards the congregation and told them everything he experienced that morning. Many began to cry and many heads bowed in shame. He then said, “Today I see a gathering of people, not a church of Jesus Christ. The world has enough people, but not enough disciples.  When will YOU decide to become disciples?”  He then dismissed service until next week.

As George Whitefield said “A true faith in Jesus Christ will not suffer us to be idle. No, it is an active, lively, restless principle; it fills the heart, so that it cannot be easy till it is doing something for Jesus Christ.”

Being a Christian is more than something you claim. It’s something you live by and share with others.  Are you part of a gathering… or the Church–the Body of Jesus Christ.  ♥ Streim

Keeping the Blinders On!

Why do race horses–work horses– farm horses wear blinders?  Blinders, or blinkers and winkers, as they are otherwise known, are a part of the tack kit used on many horses.  Blinders are small squares of firm leather that attach to the bridle at the side of the horse’s head. They keep the horse’s eyes focused on what is ahead, rather than what is at the side or behind. For many horses, blinders are commonly used in order to prevent the horse from becoming distracted. Horses have peripheral vision, which means they can end up running off course unless they are made to remain focused. Horse that pull wagons… Farming horses can also be predisposed to distractions and if they are pulling a plow or a wagon they might need blinders to stop them from losing concentration on the direction they are supposed to be headed. The blinders cover the rear vision of the horse, forcing it to look only in a forward direction and keeping it on track.

Story is blinders were invented by a preacher.  He bet that he could make his horse walk up the stairs in his home, which the horse did without any problems.  However, when he tried to coax the horse down again, it refused to move. The preacher then decided to cover the horse’s head and lead him down. This worked and he realized that covering all or part of the horse’s vision could encourage it to take chances it would not normally take.  Interesting…

There is much in this life to distract us from following the commandment of our Lord Jesus Christ and living the life God desires us to live; especially in this 21st century.

Many little “… fiery darts of the wicked” (Ephesians 6:16) .  Notice it says DARTS; not arrows that we see coming, but all the little things that come flying at us daily.

Personal example.  This morning I woke up in quite a bit of pain and the second my feet hit the floor and I grabbed my walker, my supposed ‘good leg’ cramped up and I could barely move.  Then I got agitated because 1) my cell phone is not working correctly–they’re putting up new towers 2) the squirrels were hanging upside down on my bird feeders eating all the bird seed 3) and I just sprayed yesterday for bugs on my flowers and vegetables growing out back and this morning I looked and those bugs made a five course meal out of my marigolds!  Sadly, I was actually angry at this point.  Then, as always is, our gracious loving God spoke softly… pray and spend time with me in my Word.  WOW!!  I realized I took my eyes off of path of my Lord and was looking at all the distractions around us.  I did as He desired and spent the time in prayer and the Word… now I am passing on to you what I learned.

Puritan teacher/preacher Richard Sibbes said “We are only safe when we wisely make use of all good advantages that we have access to. By going out of God’s ways we go out of His government, and so lose our good frame of mind, and find ourselves overspread quickly with a contrary disposition. When we draw near to Christ (James 4:8), in His ordinances, He draws near to us.”

I pray and ask my Father in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ that all of us who are loved and called according to His name, keep our focus on the steps ahead (Psalm 199:105) studying His Word and remembering that we are always in a battle (Ephesians 6:11-12).   May you decide to keep your eyes, your concentration, your focus and your heart on our Lord Jesus and our Father in heaven— keeping our spiritual blinders on.♥ Streim
