Whom the Father Loves…

Last September I wrote a post about the meaning of true intimacy with the Lord.  It was intended to be a short series… well today I went back to my drafts and found the part 2.  The reason the series was never finished is… well you’ll read that in part2.  However, so that all of my new readers (and those who missed the original) here is the original entitled “Intimacy With the Lord”…  ♥ Streim

Love and obedience are the governing principles of the divine life, which is living in this world for the Lord and not for ourselves!   God chastens and instructs us for our  good to make us partakers of His holiness, which although our senses do not always perceive it nor enjoy it, however the end result becomes apparent.  I believe that real intimacy with our LORD can only be accomplished when we are willing to allow “His chastening” to do it’s intended purpose.  For our good…thus for His glory and honor.

Hebrews 12:5-11

And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons?   “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him.  For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.”  It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons.  For what son is there whom his father does not discipline?   If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons.  Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them.  Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live?  For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness.  For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

Job 5: 17

“Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects; Therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty.

Deuteronomy 8: 5

You should know in your heart that as a man chastens his son, so the Lord your God chastens you.

Psalm 119: 75-77

I know , O LORD, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me.  Let, I pray thee, thy merciful kindness be for my comfort , according to thy word unto thy servant.  Let thy tender mercies come unto me, that I may live : for thy law is my delight.

Proverbs 3: 11-12

My son, do not despise the LORDs discipline or be weary of his reproof,  for the LORD reproves him whom he loves, as a father the son in whom he delights.

Heavenly Father, I thank you for your great love for “us” your children.  May I learn to more readily accept your discipline; knowing it is only for my good and in the end for Your glory and honor.  May Thy will be done!

Praise To Our Faithful God (prayer request report)

To all of you who faithfully prayed for my daughter Mandi’s ovarian surgery and my granddaughter’s hand surgery I say (with much honest, heartfelt, Holy Spirit ignited joy) THANK YOU!

Mandi’s had a cancerous tumor removed and a small portion of her fallopian tube.  It tested “benign” and the doctor was able to save the ovary!   Right before they wheeled her into surgery, she posted on Facebook a family picture and said “Surgery time.  MAY GOD’S WILL BE DONE”.  Mandi had placed all her trust in the Lord… as did all of you, along with family and many others in the Great Physician, our Heavenly Father.   Mandi’s recovery is going extremely well, with the assistance of her boyfriend and her sisters.

Missy (Joeie-JoJo’s mommy) also sent out a text message with a similar message.  Joeie’s surgery went well.  Both thumbs are straightened and the extra tendons released!  Praise God this little 25 pound toddler made it through this.  She calls the big bandages on her hands “mittens” and wants to take them off already.  Mom said this morning she’s back to her normal self!

I Thessalonians 5: 16-24 ”  Rejoice evermore.  Pray without ceasing.  In every thing give thanks : for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.  Quench not the Spirit.  Despise not prophesyings.  Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.  Abstain from all appearance of evil.  And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

The Word of God is Truth, and when we live obediently according to the Scriptures, Our Heavenly Father desires to answer our petitions, requests and supplications.  In faith believing and in the blessed name of our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, being led by the indwelling Holy Spirit of God… joyful praise and thanksgiving is given to our Most Holy LORD God because He is and always will be “faithful and giving to His children”!   ♥Streim  ©

Getting To Know My Savior And Lord

There’s a wonderful song sung by Bing Crosby years ago called “Getting To Know You”.  I don’t remember all the lyrics, but these are the ones that  I started singing this morning as I decided to share my experiences with you as I grew into knowing my Savior.

Getting to know you                                                                                 At the Foot of the Cross
Getting to feel free and easy
    When I am with you
Getting to know what to say
    Haven’t you noticed
    Suddenly I’m bright and breezy?
Because of all the beautiful and new
    Things I’m learning about you
    Day by day

When I came to Christ in August 2006, my desire was to get to know my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  So I proceeded to spend almost 2 years studying in-depth the Gospel of John.  I didn’t use commentaries or any other study materials; just my 24-year-old Scofield reference KJV Bible.  I knew it was the will of my Heavenly Father to study His Word, so I prayed earnestly for the Holy Spirit to discern the Word for me— after all He wrote it!   The lyrics: “Suddenly I’m bright and breezy,  Because of all the beautiful and new, Things I’m learning about you,  Day by day” describe exactly my experience in ‘getting to know my Lord and Savior’.

One thing I can tell you without any doubt is that God’s Holy Word is alive!   This morning as I read in John,  I saw something I’d not “seen” before;  seen as in the ‘eyes of my understanding’.

The Apostle Paul wrote in Ephesians 1:17-20:

” That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him:  The eyes of your understanding being enlightened ; that ye may know what is the hope of His calling, and what the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,  And what is the exceeding greatness of His power to us-ward who believe , according to the working of His mighty power,  Which He wrought in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead, and set Him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,”

Peter’s first letter explains (much better than I could) what my learning experience yielded.
  “…a  ‘lively’ hope , rejoicing , peace and hope    1 Peter 1:1-7

I pray that as I share all the beautiful things I learned about our Heavenly Father and our Lord Jesus Christ you will be blessed and encouraged in the faith.   Faithfully and always His  ♥ Streim
