2012’s Most Priceless Moment

2012’s Most Priceless Moment

I remember precisely the who, what, where and how of this moment— we’ll exclude the when since it is of no significance.  My again grey matter has a propensity for not remembering months, weeks, days, hours…

The Who:   Myself aka Grandma and my 7-year-old granddaughter aka “Bug”

The Where:  We (me and Bug) had just finished a family meal at my youngest daughter’s home.  Bug and I were just talking about “things”.   She looked at my silver cross necklace I wear all the time and asked a simple question.

cross necklace

The What:   Question #1  ” Grandma why do wear that cross all the time? ”   she asked with her little head tilted to one side and a deeply curious look in her innocent eyes.   “Because I love Jesus honey” I responded immediately with a smile.

The What #2:  Like most young children she wanted more.  You know that question  most parents dislike– the big why question!  “Why do you love Jesus Grandma?”  Without thinking (literally!) I responded “Because He first loved me”   After I said that, I patiently waited for her to ask another question, but she didn’t!   Her eyes lit up like fireworks exploding she smiled and said ” OK “.  That was that!

The How:  How amazing is the simple truth of God’s Word to little children.  She completely understood!

*******************************

Dwight L. Moody said ” It is a masterpiece of the devil to make us believe that children cannot understand religion. Would Christ have made a child the standard of faith if He had known that it was not capable of understanding His words? “

Matthew 18: 1-4

At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”  Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them,  and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.  Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”

” And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world.  Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.  And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.  Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.  There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.  We love Him  because He first loved us.” 1 John 4: 14-19

May each of us Father, as we begin a new year in our lives, never forget that we are “your little children” made  to humbly love, honor and glorify You for all the world to see! ♥ Streim
