Three Lessons Learned From Brokenness

For any who read my most recent post, I told you I learned three extremely significantly beautiful lessons about our walk with the Lord during times of unbearable pain and mental/emotional suffering.  The lessons:    1) how to deal with the flesh during an experience like this 2) how to continue in our faith   3) how to KNOW our Lord’s ever-present love/care for us.

Since this incident happened on the heals of my posting 2 very passionate messages about standing on the Word of God, I believe it was a “baseball bat to the back” done by one of the enemy’s minions.  I still believe that and I KNOW why the Lord allowed it.  I believe all things in an adopted, blood bought Child of God’s life are controlled by Him.  He is Sovereign above all!  Now some of you may think/feel/believe differently but I’ve experienced too many storms followed by blessings and too many valleys which led to mountaintops with the Almighty waiting there… just as His Word promises!

Before I go any further, I must tell you the day after the epidural steroid shot I physically felt great!  The next day not so great, with recurrent pain and interrupted sleep again.  By day 3, I was worse than before the shot.  Agony doesn’t express it… and the pain wasn’t just the lower left side of the back and left leg, it was from the waist down–both legs, lower abdomen and behind!  I could not sit, walk, lay down… none of the medications worked!  So there I was at 4:00 am walking outside in tears.  I came into the apartment, sat in the chair and prayed.  “Heavenly Father, I feel like Job must have felt with his boils.  But, I thank you for this… I praise you for this… and may you be glorified and honored.  Your will be done, in Jesus name.  Amen”.  I sat there asking myself where did that come from?  It came from a place of complete brokenness!  Then I heard that still, small voice “lay down on the couch and sleep”.  I didn’t question it (even though that couch helped cause the problem)  I just did it.  I fell fast asleep for 2 hours…

That time with the Lord God Almighty, Savior Jesus and Holy Spirit is the answer to how to deal with the flesh during an experience like this, how to continue in our faith and how to KNOW our Lord’s ever-present love/care for us.

Matthew 26: 41 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

James 1: 2-6 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.  But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.”

Psalm 33: 20-22Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield.  For our heart shall rejoice in Him, Because we have trusted in His holy name. Let Your mercy, O Lord, be upon us, Just as we hope in You.”

John 10:28-29 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.  My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand”

“God, who foresaw your tribulation, has specially armed you to go through it, not without pain but without stain.”  C. S. Lewis

“The full acting out of the self’s surrender to God therefore demands pain: this action, to be perfect, must be done from the pure will to obey, in the absence, or in the teeth, of inclination”.   C.S. Lewis

I share these Bible verses, quotes from C. S. Lewis and my story in the hope that not only will Our Almighty Lord and Savior be glorified, but that you, my brethren in the Body of Christ may rejoice knowing nothing ever happens in our lives that He hasn’t prepared us for… IF we stay in His Word, in His presence and pray without ceasing.  ♥ Streim

~~Prayer Warriors Needed~~

I know we have a very strong prayer community within this “blogging” space– so my dear brothers and sisters within the True Body of Christ, I’m reaching out today on behalf of two very special people in my life.   Tomorrow morning (Tuesday 7:30 CDT) my second youngest daughter Mandilyn (27) is having a very serious surgery, while 100 miles away, at the same exact time my youngest granddaughter Joeie (2) is having hand surgery.

I’ve requested prayer for Mandilyn before that the trial birth control would shrink the mass on her right ovary.  (for a little history Mandi had a mass removed from the left ovary July 2011)  The previous mass was created by a ruptured egg , however this one is completely different.  And… it hasn’t shrunk at all, it is the size of a golf ball.  Her doctor has no real idea what the mass is but it’s not the same as before and we know that the doctor may have to remove the entire ovary.  Mandi understands state and has accepted that God is in control of the situation (she knows Him as Savior— but is not walking with Him).

Little Joeie has a strange condition for an infant.  Both of her thumbs has extra tendons; causing the thumbs to always be bent.  It looks like arthritis would.  A hand specialist is going to snip the extra tendons to release the thumbs.  Her mother, my youngest daughter Missy knows the Lord and trusts all will work well.

I am asking 1) prayer for Mandi that the doctor may have true wisdom; for Mandi to be impressed by God’s love for her through this; and finally that it is not ovarian cancer!

For little Joeie 1) that there won’t be any difficulties with the surgery and that recovery be minimal, as you can imagine a 2-year-old with bandaged hands; also prayer for my daughter Missy and daddy Justin.

*** As I been doing my study through the Gospel of John I am finding the most beautiful, blessed truths about the love of the Father in heaven and how He loved us so much to send His ONLY begotten to live as we, die a horrible death without any sin of His own (of course Jesus was God in the flash) for the sole purpose of reconciling man to the Himself– The LORD God Almighty.  This past week I’ve been reading and studying the words Jesus spoke to His disciples just previous to His death.  I found none of these recorded in the other 3 gospels.  There is so much there— I’m craving the Word!  This I’d like to share, as it concerns me asking you for prayer support.***

John 16: 20-24  “Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament , but the world shall rejoice : and ye shall be sorrowful , but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.  A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come : but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.  And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice , and your joy no man taketh from you.  And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you , Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.  Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask , and ye shall receive , that your joy may be full .

Oh how I love you my Savior Jesus and my Forever Father in heaven.  Bless all those who will believe your words… and crave them!  Thank you all for considering, as the Holy Spirit leads to pray.  ♥ Streim

Friday’s Favorite Addendum

**This post is a clarification of the following statement I made in yesterday’s Friday’s Favorite.  First I must tell you I belong to a wonderful local body of believers, I read a lot… just not books from the New York Times best-seller list.**

Lately I’ve had occasions when fellow Christians have asked me “who’s your favorite tele-evangelist or Christian author?”   When I respond that I don’t watch tele-evangelists or read Christian authors from the New York Times best seller list, I get the strangest looks (and attitudes).  Almost like I am “not in the groove with the Church”.

We live, as I am sure you know, in a time unlike any other in history.  I weep daily at the outlandish acts of evil people are committing against others, the diversions the enemy is using to beguile the saints and the innocent appearing secularist approach to Christianity that is running rampant in this country.  I might as well add the distraction of this year’s elections (both national and state) that are causing rifts between the brethren.  The Word warns us a multitude of time to beware of anything or anyone who will draw us away from our focus on the Creator God and our Lord Jesus Christ.

“Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. ”  Colossians 2:8

“Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived , and ye turn aside , and serve other gods, and worship them;…”  Deuteronomy 11:16

“And He said, ‘Take heed that ye be not deceived : for many shall come in my name, saying , I am Christ; and the time draweth near : go ye not therefore after them.’ ”  Luke 21:8

“And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.”  Luke 21:34

There is only one way for us as people still living in fleshy bodies, who are crucified with Christ and choose to serve The Almighty LORD God, to avoid any lies and deceit.  KNOW the Word for ourselves.

Proverbs 2: 1-10

“My son, if you receive my words, And treasure my commands within you, So that you incline your ear to wisdom, And apply your heart to understanding;  Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding,  If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures;  Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, And find the knowledge of God.  For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding;  He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly;  He guards the paths of justice, And preserves the way of His saints.  Then you will understand righteousness and justice, Equity and every good path. When wisdom enters your heart, And knowledge is pleasant to your soul,” (NKJV)

… this is my sincere prayer and desire for all the brethren…
