Getting To Know My Savior And Lord

There’s a wonderful song sung by Bing Crosby years ago called “Getting To Know You”.  I don’t remember all the lyrics, but these are the ones that  I started singing this morning as I decided to share my experiences with you as I grew into knowing my Savior.

Getting to know you                                                                                 At the Foot of the Cross
Getting to feel free and easy
    When I am with you
Getting to know what to say
    Haven’t you noticed
    Suddenly I’m bright and breezy?
Because of all the beautiful and new
    Things I’m learning about you
    Day by day

When I came to Christ in August 2006, my desire was to get to know my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  So I proceeded to spend almost 2 years studying in-depth the Gospel of John.  I didn’t use commentaries or any other study materials; just my 24-year-old Scofield reference KJV Bible.  I knew it was the will of my Heavenly Father to study His Word, so I prayed earnestly for the Holy Spirit to discern the Word for me— after all He wrote it!   The lyrics: “Suddenly I’m bright and breezy,  Because of all the beautiful and new, Things I’m learning about you,  Day by day” describe exactly my experience in ‘getting to know my Lord and Savior’.

One thing I can tell you without any doubt is that God’s Holy Word is alive!   This morning as I read in John,  I saw something I’d not “seen” before;  seen as in the ‘eyes of my understanding’.

The Apostle Paul wrote in Ephesians 1:17-20:

” That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him:  The eyes of your understanding being enlightened ; that ye may know what is the hope of His calling, and what the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,  And what is the exceeding greatness of His power to us-ward who believe , according to the working of His mighty power,  Which He wrought in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead, and set Him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,”

Peter’s first letter explains (much better than I could) what my learning experience yielded.
  “…a  ‘lively’ hope , rejoicing , peace and hope    1 Peter 1:1-7

I pray that as I share all the beautiful things I learned about our Heavenly Father and our Lord Jesus Christ you will be blessed and encouraged in the faith.   Faithfully and always His  ♥ Streim

There is joy, hope and peace in knowing the Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Everyday is a new day to share the the glorious Gospel message of grace and forgiveness; the blessings of hope; the Father God's eternal promises; and the importance of living daily in the will of God according to the Scriptures, especially now with the world in chaos and uncertainty. My life before I repented of all my sin, was washed clean by the blood of the Lamb of God-- Jesus Christ and was born again; was one of utter selfishness in every aspects of my life. I lived for ME and only me! Now I live for my Lord and soon coming King, rejoicing daily. I earnestly desire to share the message of the Gospel, encourage sisters/brothers in Christ by fervent prayer and studying the Holy Scriptures more each day. 1. Thank you Stephanie. It is always encouraging to read of how our triune God works in the lives of believers, enlightening us and “growing” us in Him.

Yes, it is a ‘living’ Word. Even though we have read it hundreds of times, there is always something new – something new that our amazing God chooses to ‘enlighten’ us with.

We serve an incredibly amazing God who gives and gives and gives to His blood-bought, adopted children.
